The Allegheny County Girls as Grantmakers is a diverse group of 23 girls from across Allegheny County representing different neighborhoods, schools, religions, races, and ages, but what they have in common is a desire to make Allegheny County a better place for girls to thrive. This group of teens was entrusted with $10,000, which they granted away to seven groups led by girls throughout Allegheny County to run programs to increase young women’s participation in: politics, math & science, and sports.
This two-year program is a collaboration of the Women and Girls Foundation (WGF), FISA Foundation, Eden Hall Foundation, and the Jewish Women’s Foundation.
Accompanying this dynamic group of teens on their grantmaking journey is an equally exciting group of young professional women from the community. These women graciously volunteer their expertise and their talents to the Girls as Grantmakers program:
- Demeatria Gibson Bocella - Program Officer, Multi-Cultural Arts Initiative
- Kilolo Luckett - Real Estate Agent, We Do Property, Inc.
- Sylvia Rhor - Professor of Art History, Carlow University
- Anne Blose Sekula - Associate, Dewey & Kaye Nonprofit Consultants
- Kristy Trautmann - Program Officer, FISA Foundation
- Lauren Baker - Consultant, Dewey & Kaye Nonprofit Consultants
